Ellen welcomes LAVERNE COX! She’s a groundbreaking actress, the first transgender woman of color to star in a leading role in a mainstream TV show, “Orange Is the New Black,” and an Emmy-winning producer! Laverne will talk with Ellen about her critically acclaimed Netflix documentary, “Disclosure: Trans Lives on Screen,” and her new podcast, “The Laverne Cox Show”! Then, Ellen will chat with high school senior Skylar Hughes and her father, James. The 17-year-old worked hard all through school in hopes of getting into her dream school, Duke University. Skylar recently posted an emotional video of her visiting her late mother’s grave with her dad, as she wanted to open the admissions email together as a family. The clip of her reading news of her acceptance has since gone viral, and she’s here to tell Ellen all about it.
